BULAWAYO Polytechnic striker, Blessing Dube, hopes the Thembalethu Southern Region Women’s Soccer League will help her fulfil her dream of representing the Mighty Warriors.
The 18-year-old striker scored a thunderous strike that propelled her team to a 2-1 win over Sobukhazi in a league match on Saturday.
“I’m passionate about football and it has been always my dream to represent my country. I give my all in matches because I believe that playing in the Thembalethu League is a platform for me to excel and be a player capable of playing for the national team,” said Dube.
She is the team’s top goal scorer with four goals and said despite her side’s poor performance in the first round of the season, she is optimistic they will finish in a respectable position.
“Our team has not been playing well, but we have been showing some positive signs in our recent matches. I have always believed that football can give me a breakthrough to go and play outside the country,” Dube said.
Her coach, Gremah Ndebele described Dube as a talented girl who is destined for greatness.
“Blessing is talented and it won’t be a surprise to see her playing in better leagues. Her dedication to football also works for her because staying level headed is a plus in sport,” said Ndebele. – @DecoDecent2
