Mutare-based gospel music icon Blessing Shumba continues to show flexibility working with fellow musicians following his collaboration with new kid Itai Bvumbura on the latter’s second album titled “Now I Have Jesus Christ — No Condemnation”.
Bvumbura featured Shumba on the song “Zviitei” which is taken from the book of Habakkuk and the blending of the musicians’ voices enhances the appeal of the song.
With Bvumbura and Shumba’s duet listeners are likely to appreciate the unity and commitment that the men of God are out to prove to the world what they have in preaching the gospel .
“We are out on a mission and nothing should deter us from ministering together. We are not after personal glory but the glory of our Creator,” Bvumbura said.
Apart from the track with Shumba, some of the songs on the seven-track album are laden with words of wisdom as well as instruments that are well-arranged to create a sound that is pleasing in the ears.
The title track “No Condemnation” says it all and reminds people that no one will condemn them when God says they are victors in life.
“Jesu Akandida” carries the message further by telling the world that Jesus Christ chooses those who choose Him, while “Jesu Shamwari”, “Mweya Wangu” and “Farai MaKristu” also further buttress this message.
Another powerful track on the album is “Mwana Chipo”, which talks about the importance of safeguarding children who are a gift from God.
The album was recorded at Kunashe Studios in Mutare and was engineered and mastered by Olin Anderson.
“People like Honourable Justin Mupamhanga and Pastor Blessing Shumba were instrumental in the successful recording of this album and kudos should go to them,” added Bvumbura.
