DECEMBER is a month of festivities where parties and wedding ceremonies rule the roost. In the spirit of love and having fun, Austria-based Zimbabwean imbube artiste Blessings “Nqo” Nkomo and Nkwali (born Nomathamsanqa Treatie Mkwananzi) will be releasing a track titled “Woza laye” on Friday.

The wedding song with an Amapiano feel was co-produced by Blessings Nqo and Mthabisi Moyo. For Blessings Nqo, this project is a continuation of his festive season drive after he recently dropped his fifth studio album titled “Isilungu”.

The musician said the forthcoming song is set to remind people of popular wedding songs.

“With ‘Woza laye’, we’ll take people back to the times when we enjoyed traditional wedding songs such as ‘Sesimfumene’ and ‘Siwelele’. The idea is to celebrate love and the important wedding ceremony which is a public declaration of love with a modern sound of the Amapiano genre,” Blessing Nqo said.

Combined, the pair has travelled the world showcasing Zimbabwean talent, performing in Australia, the United States of America, Germany, Singapore, Philippines, Germany and Austria.

Nkwali said partnering with Blessings Nqo has been a blessing.

“I’ve worked with Blessing for many years on other projects and working with him is always nice because he’s very passionate about music and it makes everything easy,” she said.

On what the future holds for her, the Halala Lozikeyi singer said an album is on the way as well as many charitable deeds.

“I’m doing a lot of charity work and performing at private functions. I’m still working on my next album and can’t say when it’ll come out because I want to take my time,” Nkwali said.

Blessings Nqo made his mark as a member of the Insingizi ensemble where, he, together with Dumisani “Ramadu Moyo” and Vusa Mkhaya toured Austria, Slovenia, Denmark, and other European nations. Nkwali on the other hand, made her big break at a tender age when she was featured as an extra in Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman’s Power of One which also featured Zimbabwe’s Alois Moyo. – @eMKlass_49
