Blue Rangers get sponsor

Rangers, have promised they will bring the AC Milan coaches to this country in August.
They also hope to bring the Italian giants here within the next three years.

Yesterday, WWS gave Blue Rangers a huge boost expected to help change the fortunes of the struggling Harare side.
WWS, who are the sole agents of AC Milan in Africa and help athletes to secure scholarships here and in foreign lands, are coming in as a major shareholder in the deal.

This will see the club’s name being changed to WWS Rangers if they get the nod from the PSL management committee.
Speaking at a media conference in the capital yesterday, WWS president Munya Maraire, flanked by Rangers’ coach Misheck Chidzambwa and captain Nyasha Chazika, said the deal marks the dawn of a new era for the club. WWS has come in as a majority shareholder and we have got a lot of corporate partners to bring on board,” said Maraire.

“We are in a tough position as a team but our goal is to win the coming matches against Monomotapa and FC Platinum.
“When I spoke to the players, I told them this is a new day not only for the players but Zimbabwe football as we are putting some ideas which have never been seen before.

“You have seen what we have achieved before as WWS, so we don’t want to promise a lot right now. We would also be working closely with both Zifa and PSL.
“My goal is that in three years AC Milan should be coming here to play in Zimbabwe. AC Milan coaches are coming in August for the AC Milan junior camp and will definitely have a training session with the team.”

The new sponsors are expected to foot most of the club’s direct running costs.
Blue Rangers have found the going tough since their parent sponsors, Blue Ribbon Foods, stopped pumping funds into the team.
The team’s leadership took full control of the club. Club chairman, Moses Shumba, said he was confident the deal will breathe new life into the team.

“We have always been looking for partnerships since the beginning of the season.
“And after our meeting with the players, even at the training session you could see that the attitude had changed,” said Shumba.
Former DeMbare and SuperSport defender, Chazika, welcomed the new deal and said players were ready to do their part and improve the team’s position on the log.
