Blue Rangers get sponsorship

outside Harare.
The donation comes at a time when the club’s principal sponsors, Blue Ribbon Industries, withdrew their sponsorship early this year due to financial constraints.
Speaking at their offices in Belgravia during the handover of the kit yesterday, National Eye Security marketing director, Trevor Jakachira, said the gesture was part of their way of investing back into the community
“We are celebrating our fifth anniversary and our major thrust or corporate responsibility is to invest in the community. We have been doing this since last year when we held the Gutu Invitational soccer tournament.
“We have seen it fit for the year 2012 to continue with our social responsibility by developing sport.  We have done it now this year by getting into a partnership with Blue Rangers after they approached us.
“To us it’s a team that is being run by a young executive who have direction. But what they need is corporate support,” said Jakachira.
He also said that they were looking forward to establishing a long-term partnership with the club and are going to cater for the team’s travelling expenses when they are playing outside Harare.
“We have confidence in them. They are not in there (in the Premiership) to just make up the numbers. As a company, we have pledged to take care of their travelling expenses when it comes to their matches outside Harare. All that amounts to US$30 000.
“Depending on whether they stay in the league, we will keep supporting them for the next two years and we will be reviewing the package every season. The challenge is on the team to stay in the league,” Jakachira added.
Blue Rangers’ marketing and publicity manager, Trymore Chikomo, thanked National Eye Security for their gesture.
“It was out of passion that we continued with the team after our principal sponsors pulled out.
“It’s only part of the season that they have taken care of and we are still appealing to other sponsors to come on board.
“We promise we will remain in the league,” said Chikomo.
