season in acrimony after failing to meet their target to secure a top eight spot, are set to begin their preparations at Zimphos grounds today.
But club chairman, Moses Shumba, yesterday said they were still hunting for new coaches to replace Chidzambwa and his assistants Biggie Zuze and Labani Kandi.
Shumba said they are still trying to identify the right candidate with the capacity to meet their target and, in the meantime, former team manager Wishes Shiridzinomwa will be taking over the early preparations.
“We are still head-hunting and I am sure we should be done with the issue of the technical team in the next 10 days.
“We are set to begin our preparations tomorrow and Shiridzinomwa will take the players through their training programme,” said Shumba.
Blue Ribbon had a descent start last year but a run of poor results in the latter stages of the season condemned them to the bottom half and finished ninth.
The millers are looking forward to a better performance this season despite losing some of their key players like James Jam, Daniel Kamunenga, Clive Boroma, Tineyi Chitora and Cabby Kamhapa.
“Consistency is one area we need to emphasise.
“We did so well in some games against the so-called big teams but we were not so good when it came to the lightweights.
“This time we want to work on the mindset and once we get our rhythm we would want to maintain that. We learnt our lessons and hopefully it will be better.”
Shumba said Blue Ribbon will replace their stars with players of equal calibre and are also hoping to retain the bulk from last season.
“We made sure in our first season that we signed our players on a minimum two year period and it appears we might be able to continue with most of them.
“We cleared five players during the off-season after discussing with them and we thought it was in their best interest to move on with their careers and showcase their talents at a higher level since they are all going to play in Caf tournaments.”
