BN Soccer Academy will for the first time enrol budding female football players starting early next month.

Academy director, Bekhi Nyoni, said they will start with girls aged from 12 to 17 years.

“We have always had this idea to have girls within our academy, since 2019, but we were affected by Covid-19.

‘’Our first recruitment will come in October and we will have girls from 12 to 17 years.

‘’The idea was always there and it is now time we put it into practice.

“We are looking forward to support the girl child and unveil some opportunities, we have been giving to the boys, within the academy.

‘’We have some contacts in the United States who provide scholarships, and that was only giving chances to boys. We need to give the same chances, to the girls.

“The first recruitment will be done for three months on a trial basis, and then we see how it goes.’’

BN Academy’s mission is to identify and nurture young talented footballers from grassroots level to the age of 19.

The academy has been in operation, since 1998, under the leadership of Nyoni, and is based at Belgravia Sports Club, in Harare.

Nyoni has built the academy, from a group of five boys, at the beginning, to about 100 young footballers, today.
