THE Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has suspended its executive assistant, Mrs Anesu Musamba, on allegations of misconduct as the company continues its drive to cleanse malpractices.

In a letter dated March 30, Mrs Musamba was suspended for alleged theft of company property and abuse of a company vehicle.

“You committed some acts of misconduct in terms of Section 2.2.2 (n) of the Tobacco Industry & Marketing Board’s Employment Code of Conduct; that is to say ‘Theft’.

“You committed an act of misconduct in terms of Section 2.2.2 (s) of the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board Employment Code of Conduct; That is to say, ‘any act of conduct or omission inconsistent

She is due to appear before a disciplinary hearing this week.

In September last year, suspended TIMB chief executive Mr Meanwell Gudu was arrested and appeared in court over corruption involving US$2,8 million.

He is jointly charged with TIMB former CEO Andrew Matibiri and former head of special projects Stuart Shayanyika. The three are currently on bail.

Mr Gudu also has another matter before the courts. He has been charged with employing an unqualified person at the company.
