THE Eastern Region Division One league gets into its 18th round of matches with Mutare City Rovers’ mentor, Kenny “Bokande” Kachara, yet to taste defeat after 11 rounds of league matches since he took over.
Kachara’s Cinderella story began soon after the sacking of Joseph Takaringofa by the Mutare Municipality side and since then it has been 11 weeks without defeat for the Mutare Premiership promotional aspirants. However, Mutare City Rovers is away to Mwenezana in a tricky encounter that could reduce their four-point gap at the summit of the log standings. The match against Mwenezana will also come in as a litmus test for Kachara’s unbeaten run and Gusha Bhora are fully aware of that.
Their spokesperson, Clayton “Bagio” Masekesa, conceded that the away match against Mwenezana would be a tricky one, but expressed hope that the Mutare side would prevail.
“It is a very important match for us because Mwenezana plays quite well at home. However, we hope our boys will be in their usual best so that we brighten our chances of getting promoted into the top flight league. We also hope that after outplaying Mwenezana in their own backyard, we can send a bold message to all other remaining opponents that we are a serious Premiership promotional contender.
“In the same breadth, we sincerely want to thank our boys for displaying quality football against Ruwa United at Sakubva,” he said.
