BONDOLFI TEACHERS COLLEGE GRADUATION

The government has urged teachers’ colleges to ensure that graduate teachers are equipped to impart necessary skills and knowledge to students.

Speaking at the Bondolfi Teachers College graduation, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Simelisizwe Sibanda said educators play a critical role in shaping the future workforce.

“Education is indeed a cornerstone for both social and economic development. The theme highlights the critical role that educators play in shaping future workforce by focusing on innovation and industrialisation Zimbabwe can equip its citizens with the necessary requisite skills to meet the demands of a strong modern economy.

“Aligning the educational transformation with Zimbabwe’s vision 2030 is a strategic move.

Vision 2030 aims to elevate Zimbabwe to an upper middle-income economy and achieving this goal requires a well-educated and skilled workforce. The workforce, that has got the necessary attitude capable of driving technological advancement and industrial growth. Our transformed the higher and tertiary education to a heritage-based education 5.0 integrates Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage with modern educational practices and aims to empower graduates by promoting self-reliance, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

“Our teachers’ colleges must ensure that graduate teachers are equipped to impart necessary skills and knowledge to students fostering a culture of innovation and industrialisation.

Today’s teachers need a diverse set of skills to effectively drive education 5.0 philosophy. The nation needs teachers who are capable with technical and digital literacy and is proficient in using modern technologies and digital tools.

Deputy Minister Sibanda challenged graduates to innovate by developing new projects and services that can drive industrial causes.

“It also needs a teacher who can adopt and adapt innovative teaching methods that is the ability to incorporate practical and experimental learning.

“We need a teacher who is equipped with the skills that encourage students to think creatively and develop business ideas. We need a teacher who possesses skills for development and is engaging in continuous research to stay updated with the least educational trans and technologies.

“Throw the direction of the president, Dr. ED Munangangwa Zimbabwe’s education 5.0 has shifted the focus from education 3,0 which is still theoretical knowledge to practical skills for that innovation.

“Through the graduate employment, creation, and development program, our graduates are supported to develop, local industries, to address challenges of unemployment and high expenditures on imports.

“You need to utilise local resources and also leverage Zimbabwe’s natural resources to create value and products. The government is ready to support you. The government has got confidence in you as however our young people as the graduates. The government stands committed to living no and no place behind in its developmental agenda,” he said.
