Bonnie & Clyde. . . cattle rustling couple turn house into butchery

Being Bonny and Clyde is what Faniya and Veronica have been up to.

Husband Faniya Ngwenya (67) and wife Veronica Tshabalala (52) had one hell of a run cattle rustling and selling the meat in their home until a tip off put an end to their criminality.

“There is someone who knew everything about this couple’s stock-theft issue. You know these days meat is very expensive at the butcheries so their market has been growing.

“Whenever you saw them coming back with their bicycles loaded, you definitely knew that the meat was available and within a short period it got finished.

“Because of high demand they had hired someone to sit by Emganwini Flea Market to help by giving customers direction to their home.

Police at Tshabalala Station, after receiving a tip-off, proceeded to Emganwini Flea Market and pretended to be customers in need of cheap beef.

“The undercover police approached the man at the flea market and told him that they wanted directions to the house where meat was said to be sold at a reasonable price.

“He accompanied them and upon arrival they found the packed meat in one of the rooms resulting in their arrest,” said the source.

A police source close to the investigations confirmed the report and further revealed that at the couple’s house they also discovered a pellet gun with 315 rounds and a pair of handcuffs which will be produced in court as exhibit.

Efforts to get a comment from Matabeleland South police spokesperson Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele were fruitless as he was said to be out of office.
