A book that captures events that followed one of the darkest days in Zimbabwe’s history when hundreds lost their lives after Cyclone Idai hit the eastern parts of the country in March 2019 is now on sale.
The book titled “The Day Night Came” was authored by local journalist Rumbidzayi Caroline Kahari.
Kahari said the book captures the unity that Zimbabweans showed in responding to the disaster.
“What was so profound about Cyclone Idai was how we all gathered together as a nation to help one another, and it was therefore important to capture this glorious moment where despite our differences we were united as a country. Secondly, it was to highlight the need for disaster preparedness for the future,” she said.
Proceeds from the sale of the book, she added, will be channelled to children who lost their parents during the natural disaster.
Publication of the book was made possible by donations from individuals from different countries.
