Zinwa secures 3 000 prepaid water meters

Sunday Mail Reporter

THE Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has procured 3 000 prepaid water meters set to be installed at residential and commercial properties in five districts.

The meters, which are currently undergoing quality control tests, will be installed in Chivhu, Mvurwi, Murewa, Glendale and Murambinda.

“Installation of the meters will commence in the coming few days, once the ongoing testing of the meters is completed,” said Zinwa corporate communications and marketing manager Ms Marjorie Munyonga.

“To date, 18 000 meters have been installed in Chivhu, Mvurwi, Nyanga, Mutoko, Murewa, Filabusi and Hwange.”

She urged property owners to be wary of criminals masquerading as Zinwa agents, who are fleecing property owners by charging installation fees.

“Zinwa is installing the meters free of charge,” she said.

The water authority plans to install 35 000 prepaid water meters by the end of the year.
