A book chronicling the life of First Lady Cde Grace Mugabe in pictures was bought for $50,000 by Prophetic Healing and Deliverance ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya after he outbid other potential buyers.
The bids for the book started at $5,000 during the First Lady’s 50th birthday celebrations gala and fund raising dinner held at the First Family’s home in Borrowdale, Harare, on Saturday evening and spilled into the early hours of yesterday.
The book is titled Amai Dr Grace Mugabe at 50 and has pictures depicting the various stages of the First Lady’s life.
Proceeds from the fundraising dinner would be distributed to several charity organisations this week to which the First Lady is patron.
It was an interesting show as corporates and individuals competed to bid for the first copy.
But no one could surpass the bar set by Prophet Magaya at $50,000 and he eventually received the first copy of the book which was signed by both President Mugabe and the First Lady amid deafening cheers from the guests.
Brainworks Capital also ran a good show by taking the book at $20,000 after becoming the second highest bidders.
In the foreword to the book, the Amai at 50 organising committee described Cde Mugabe as a great gracious lady.
