Boost for female artists

FEMALE artists should be equipped with digital skills to enhance their work in the digital age.

This was said by Zimbabwe Female Arts Practitioners’ Platform (ZIFAPP) programmes coordinator, Angeline Zimingo at the ongoing female digital skills training in Harare.

The programme was organised by the Zimbabwe Female Arts Practitioners’ Platform (ZIFAPPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT.

Twenty artists were trained to ensure that they have equal opportunities with men in the field.

“We formulated a platform where we can empower women to have the skills to further develop their work.

“We want this to be an ongoing programme and hope to empower more women.

“The arts sector should not be viewed as a part-time job, but a career to sustain their families,” she said.

The participants will be conferred with certificates of participation on a graduation ceremony to be held tomorrow at Theatre in the Park.

This will provide platforms for creatives to engage in meaningful conversations for the growth of the creative and cultural industry in Zimbabwe.
