Boost for Tigers Academy

Tigers Rugby Academy has received a timely boost from Think Money Investment Properties in the form of playing kit and bags ahead of their camp in preparation for the Investec International Rugby training camp in South Africa. Isaac Mapfekera and his wife — whose son Shelton is part of the touring party — saw it necessary for their company to make a kind gesture to the junior team and said they are happy to have made a contribution to the team.

“It’s a great pleasure to be working with the kids and being able to give them something. They have shown commitment and it has proven fruitful on their behalf.

“We will support the kids by any means possible to make their trip a success and we know by giving them a kit we have helped boost their moral so that they may be able to produce good results on their tour. “We just hope they will go learn and win making our country proud. The parents are excited about this tour and pray everything goes well,” said Mapfekera.

Tiger’s coach Leeroy Mandiringa said he was overjoyed to receive the donation saying it could not have come at a better time. “The parents are showing tremendous support for the children and such a timely donation has uplifted the spirits of the team.

“We want to produce good results and good players from this exchange in South Africa, because we don’t want to disappoint our major stakeholders who are the parents. “Everything is falling into place what’s left is going to South Africa and showing them how much talent we have in Zimbabwe and we are all happy with the donation which has become motivation for us to produce good results,” said Mandi- ringa.

The academy is expected to leave for Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, on Tuesday where they will play against some of the local clubs like Maritzburg Rugby Club and Pioneer Rugby Club.
