Bulawayo City . . . . . . . . . . (1) 1AILING Border strikers succumbed to their third defeat yesterday when they were beaten by visiting Bulawayo City in a match which was overshadowed by allegations of match fixing.
Bulawayo City assistant coach, Farai Mujokoro is accused of bribing Border Strikers goalkeeper Talent Sandae with $300, so that he would let them win by at least a four goal margin.
According to a text trail between Mujokoro and Sundae the money was to be collected by the latter’s sister from one Gift Mvala who is Bulawayo City kit manager.
Mvala walked into a trap before kick-off, when he handed it over to Border Strikers treasurer Gift Jera who was in the company of a lady who paused as Sandae’s sister.
The matter was reported to police before kick-off forcing Mujokoro to disappear from Beitbridge during half-time.
Mujokoro’s phone went unanswered for the better part of last night.
Bulawayo City coach, Philani “Beefy” Ncube said he was unaware of the match-fixing attempts though he was said to have given Mujokoro the nod in the SMS trail.
“I cannot comment on matters of hearsay that hasn’t been brought to my attention,” Ncube said.
Zenzo Moyo who is Bulawayo City’s vice-chairman said police should investigate the allegations.
