ALL private events, not related to horseracing, held at the Borrowdale Race Course, will now have to finish by 6pm, a court has ruled.
This comes after the Mashonaland Turf Club (MTC), which founded the horse race course, was dragged to the High Court by a resident, Spiros Yiannakis.
The resident said he had reached an agreement with MTC in 2016, but it had been breaching ever since.
MTC was in default throughout the hearing.
In default judgment, Justice Rogers Manyangadze, ordered MTC to observe a strict 6pm deadline on all private functions.
“MTC shall observe the terms of the parties’ agreement dated 20 October 2016.
“MTC is to stop all private functions, unrelated to horseracing held at the Borrowdale Race Course premises, by 6pm.
“MTC is to stop all private functions, related to horse racing held at the Borrowdale Race Course’s premises, by 8pm,” ruled Justice Manyangadze.
The race course has over the years become a popular venue for private events, such as music concerts.
It has hosted some of the biggest musical events this country has held.
Seven years ago, it was the venue for the mega show featuring American stars, Toni Braxton and Babyface.
It is now the home of one probably the biggest promotional event on the local calendar, the OK Grand Challenge.
