In the wake of comments made by Scottland FC owner Pedzisai “Scott” Sakupwanya, claiming that his team will emphatically defeat Highlanders in a highly anticipated Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday, Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu was quick to dismiss the statement as nothing more than a “mere pipe dream.”
Sakupwanya made these claims last week in the build-up to this much-anticipated encounter, which is set to take place at a packed and electrified Barbourfields Stadium. In response, Kaindu has reiterated that football matches are decided on the pitch.
“I don’t know; I’ve been hearing about it, but it’s difficult for me to comment. We respect all our opponents, and we always believe that football is played on the field. It’s always better to talk after the game. If they feel they’re going to beat us 4-0, that’s their opinion. It’s what they think they will do or are capable of doing,” said Kaindu.

Big-spending Scottland are making their debut in their country’s elite football league this season and have already attracted significant attention due to their professional approach to the game. This has enabled them to sign high-profile local players, including Khama Billiat, Walter Musona, Godknows Murwira, and former Bosso players Peter Muduhwa, Lynoth Chikuhwa, Godfrey Makaruse, and Marvelous Chigumira, among others.
“Every game, honestly, is big for us. Of course, Scottland comes with a lot of hype, considering this is their first season in the Premier League, and they have made a strong impact. If you look at the teams that have been promoted, I think they are the one that stands above the rest. But football is played on the field, and the best team will get the result,” Kaindu added.
