HIGHLANDERS FC chief executive officer Ronald Moyo will be part of the speakers at the Southern Africa Football Business Forum to be held at The Venue, in Avondale Harare on November 3.

The Forum will run under the theme ‘Enhancing Regional Co-operation and Structural Integrity in Football.’

Among some of the speakers will be South African football legend Jomo Sono and representatives from La Liga Africa.

Moyo said this is an opportunity for the club to broaden their social capital.

“It is a great honour for us as a club to be invited to take part in this discussion. We have a positive attitude and an open minded perspective towards football related conversations, especially where people from different backgrounds gather to share ideas about modern football and sports management in general.

“It’s an opportunity to broaden our social capital which can then be converted into economic capital going forward, as we try our best to grow the club as a football brand,” said Moyo.

Moyo further said: “Football is transitioning at a very fast pace, so if we can’t utilise such platforms to generate notes on how we can transition as a club then we risk going where others are coming from.”

La Liga, the Spanish football league, has partnered with the Zimbabwe Football Forum (ZFF) who are organising the Forum.

La Liga opened their Africa office in Johannesburg (South Africa) in 2015, in what became its first representation on the African continent.

The opening of the office gave a historic step in the strategy of international expansion of Spanish professional football.

The goal of the office is the global positioning of La Liga´s brand in Africa, approaching African fans who follow Spanish football.

The forum set for next month, will create a platform to solve the major structural malfunction and lack of goal congruence across the structural layers of our football ecosystem through strategic partnerships and collaborations.

The participation of international and regional partners, speakers, and panelists will generate the greatly needed impetus to re-integrate, rebrand, restrategise and most importantly reconstitute.

All football clubs, corporates, educational institutions and football loving individuals are encouraged to partner in the programme that aims to pioneer a positive change for our local and regional football industry.
