HIGHLANDERS has directed that all financial assistance intended for players be channelled through the club’s official structures, saying the move is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and protecting the integrity of the institution.

The announcement comes after an outpouring of support from Bosso fans following concerns over the welfare of players during the club’s ongoing financial challenges. In a statement, Highlanders thanked supporters for their willingness to assist, describing the response as a reflection of the strength of the Bosso family.

“The recent appeal was born out of genuine concern for the welfare of our players. However, after careful consideration, the club hereby directs that, with immediate effect, all financial assistance from supporters shall be coordinated through the official structures of Highlanders Football Club to ensure full transparency, accountability and the protection of both our players and the integrity of the club,” the club said.

Supporters wishing to make contributions have been advised to do so at the club offices or through Highlanders’ official EcoCash platform. The club stressed that all funds received through the official channels would be distributed directly to the players in a transparent and accountable manner. It also urged supporters not to deposit money into personal accounts in the name of the club.

Highlanders acknowledged the financial difficulties it is facing but assured members, supporters, sponsors and stakeholders that the executive committee is working on long-term solutions.

“While the road ahead is not without difficulties, we remain committed to strengthening governance, restoring financial stability and protecting the proud legacy of Highlanders Football Club as we celebrate our centenary year,” the statement read.

The Bulawayo giants concluded by thanking their supporters for their patience, understanding and unwavering solidarity during one of the club’s most challenging periods
