VETERAN goalkeepers coach and Highlanders Football club legend Peter “Oxo” Nkomo is club hunting, with his hope being that he will be snapped up by a topflight side.
Nkomo, who has been out of action for some time has mentored goalkeepers like Njabulo Nyoni, Ariel Sibanda, Tapiwa Kapini, Washington Arubi, Tafadzwa Dube, George Chigova and Energy Murambadoro, among others, both at club and national level.
“I am ready for a return to action. It has been a while since I have been on the coaching bench and I am eager to make a return. I believe I have a lot to teach the present crop of goalkeepers,” said Nkomo who is popularly known as Captain Oxo.

Nkomo holds a Caf C coaching licence and Goalkeepers Coaching Certificate. He left Highlanders to join FC Platinum at the beginning of 2011 and bounced back at the Bulawayo giants technical department in December 2013 replacing Tembo Chuma. Nkomo was one of the first footballers to go for an international tour three months after Zimbabwe got its independence on 18 April 1980. The goalkeepers trainer was part of Zimbabwe’s national Under-23 men’s team that attended the 1980 Moscow Olympics held in the then Soviet Union. In 2019, Nkomo joined Ngezi Platinum Stars Under-19 before moving to TelOne in 2020.
