Bosso, DeMbare Botswana tourney SMS platform now functional

HIGHLANDERS and Dynamos fans can now vote for their respective starting lineups in the forthcoming four-team Supa Power tournament scheduled for Francistown in Botswana on 19 August.

The football fiesta will see teams and line-ups chosen by fans through the now establishedAï¿½ public voting system along the lines of the Carling Black Label Cup that features South African giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

The invitational tournament, an initiative of Botswana-based Joy Foundation Sports Development, is set for Francistown Sports Complex on 19 August. The contest will see Bosso and DeMbare do duty against Botswanaaï¿½ï¿½s Tafic Sporting Club and Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

She added : aï¿½?aï¿½?The main objective of the tournament is to raise funds for the Joy Foundation to build the Joy Foundation Sports Facility as well as implementation of football development initiatives in Botswana, working with the Botswana Football Association (BFA).aï¿½?

The teams and line-ups for the Carling Black Label Cup are chosen by Carling Black Label customers, who submit an 11-digit code found on Carling Black Label products and have their vote registered.

Customers also choose which substitutions to make in-game by voting via text message.

Dynamos and Highlanders are set to get a percentage of the money generated from the SMSes.

In the draw conducted late last month at the Blue Jacket Plaza Parking Space in Francistown, Highlanders were drawn to face Mochudi Centre Chiefs while their Harare rivals Dynamos will take on Tafic with the winners coming head to head in the final.

The 18 players selected per team will get an appearance fee of P5 000.

Tafic chairman Bushy Moswate promised to give Dynamos a good run for their money.
