Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu yesterday said the Football Association of Zambia has not approached him to coach the country’s Under-23 team. He said he was therefore disturbed by reports linking him to the Zambian job. Speaking through the Highlanders chairman Peter Dube, the God-fearing mentor reaffirmed his commitment to the Bulawayo giants.
“The coach said he is disturbed by such unsubstantiated reports linking him to the Zambian job.
“He remains fully committed to Highlanders,” said Dube.
He said as Highlanders executive they were not aware of the Zambian moves to engage Kaindu.
Dube said Kaindu’s contract ends in 2015 and the coach has always been open with the executive.
Dube said media reports that Kaindu was leaving Highlanders to join the Under-23 side for their Olympic qualifiers were therefore not true.
In the article carried by this publication last week, the FAZ technical director, Honour Janza said his association was monitoring Kaindu and would want him for the Under-23 job.

“Yes we are planning for that, because he is doing well there, he will be in charge of the Under-23s for the Olympics.
“It will depend on him and his employers in terms of when he would probably start but we need him,” said Janza, a respected figure in the Zambian football circles.
Meanwhile, Dube confirmed that Kaindu will be leaving for his graduation ceremony in the United Kingdom soon after today’s league match against Chicken Inn.
“He will definitely miss our next league match against Caps United at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday,” said Dube.
His assistant Mark Mathe will be in charge.
