Bosso hope for a better outing

BULAWAYO football giants, Highlanders, will be hoping for an improved start against Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) newboys when they take on Scottland FC at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

New into the country’s elite football arena, Scottland have undoubtedly looked like the master of how to run a football club professionally and their presence has set the PSL alight.

The star-studded Scottland side have reached far and wide with their replica jerseys selling like confetti at a wedding, thanks to the way how their social media has revolutionised the way fans interact with football, significantly increased fan engagement.

After playing their first three games of the season against Triangle United, CAPS United and Ngezi Platinum Stars at Harare’s Rufaro Stadium, their trip to Bulawayo has been heavily anticipated and their match against Bosso is expected to see Barbourfields Stadium filled to the rafters.

Scottland come to the City of Kings and Queens with two ex-Bosso sons Peter Muduhwa and Lynoth Chikuhwa, who have been gagged from speaking to the media.

Muduhwa and Chikuhwa will be back where it all began lining up against their old side Highlanders, in a high-profile Matchday Four fixture against the Mabvuku side.

Put simply, Highlanders face debutants laced with experience as Scottland also have the services of captain Walter Musona, Khama Billiat, Godknows Murwira, Mthokozisi Msebe, Tymon Machope, goalkeeper Talbert Shumba, Moyo twins Elvis and Kevin, among others.

It is a day that fans will also reminisce about Muduhwa and Chikuhwa’s Bosso legacy.

Last season, Muduhwa, who spent several years fighting for the Bosso badge was the club’s vice-captain and Chikuhwa scooped the PSL Boot Award with 17 goals under his belt.

Emotions and legacy will certainly collide at Barbourfields Stadium after the black and white was in the previous season made to play second fiddle to the league’s newboys Bikita Minerals.

Bosso lost two nil at the hands of Bikita Minerals before the two teams went on to play a nil all draw at Emagumeni in the second leg.

This means Bosso managed to collect a single point from a possible six which translates to a wanting 17 percent success rate.

Against Scottland, Bosso will bank on captain Andrew Mbeba, striker Brighton ‘MaNinja’ Ncube, Melikhaya Ncube, Mason Mushore, Mckinnon Mushore and Prince Ndlovu for a positive result.
