Bosso identifies talent at Dombodema High

HIGHLANDERS FC has identified three players from Dombodema High School for its junior development programme headed by Dumaza Dube.The players were identified by former club leftback Gift Lunga who attended a tournament in Mangwe at the weekend. He said he was impressed by the players whose names he refused to reveal fearing other clubs might snatch them.

“The boys are good, I am happy with what I saw and I will recommend to the club that Dombodema’s Under-20 team curtain raises with our juniors.”

Chief Godie Bango commended the organisers for bringing Lunga to the tournament on a scouting mission. He said that was good for the development of talent from rural areas and that his presence at the event on Saturday was inspirational.

“I am happy that we had guests from Highlanders, we hope on Heroes Holidays there will also be women’s football scouts to identify talent,” said Bango.

Meanwhile, Dombodema High School’s Under-20 football team beat Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo (St Joseph) 4-0 in a match that was part of a string of events lined up at a fundraising sporting gala at KoBango School in Mangwe district.

The United Congregational Church of Southern Africa run school were presented with a playing kit. Mthembisi Nyathi who was named player of the tournament said that he was pleased with the new football kit and thanked Faris Mcuphi Ndebele who presented the kit at the sporting extravaganza.

“I am very happy that we won a brand new soccer kit, I would like to thank sponsor Faris Mcuphi Ndebele for providing the kit,” said Nyathi.

The Bango community was thrilled by some exciting football matches which were lined up and included girls’ football. Sigangatsha proved the better team in the girls’ category by beating  Dombodema 2-0.

They had earlier on drawn 0-0 with the Bango community team that had also held Dombodema to a goalless  draw. A lot of exciting action came from the boys’ teams with Dombodema Under-16 boys  losing 0-2 to Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo while in the Under-20 category Bulilima champions Dombodema won 4-0  against Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo.

Jabulani Dube the councillor of Bango ward said he was happy with the level of competition that was showcased by the players and was looking forward to more football events in support of the Bango Community Development Association which intends to construct a secondary school and bridges.
