Bosso juniors shine in mid of dark cloud

IT’S not an all gloomy affair in the Highlanders family — on the back of a disastrous start to the 2019 season by the senior team — with the developmental side, Bosso90, shining in the mid of a dark cloud hovering over the club.

Bosso90 play in the Zifa Southern Region and are a feeder team to the senior side.

Coach Melusi ‘‘Mabaleka’’ Sibanda says while his heart bleeds at the poor form displayed by the Highlanders senior team, his youngsters have their own battles to fight in Division One and will continue to keep their feet on the pedal.

So good are the boys at keeping their feet on the pedal that they sit on fourth position in the Division One league and have lost just one match in six outings.

“Remember we are a developmental side with no sponsorship, which means the boys are not paid salaries but I always tell them to look at the bigger picture; playing well and ultimately being promoted into the senior team.

“We are all affected by what is happening with the senior team but we have our own battles to fight in the Zifa Southern Region league. We started the season on a good note and I just have to continue motivating the boys to work harder,” said Sibanda.

The average age at Bosso90 is 19 years, which is in line with the club philosophy of grooming youngsters for the senior team.

“I have three players aged 22 years and the rest around 19 years old so it’s exciting to lead a team of youngsters that are hungry for success,” he said.

Next stop for Bosso90 is an away fixture to Binga Pirates.

“There is a lot of talk on social media that the Binga Pirates home ground is bumpy and full of sand but that is not an excuse to go out there and perform badly. As long as the pitch has two goal posts, we will go out there and play our hearts out,” added Sibanda.
