HIGHLANDERS have moved to plug leadership gaps created by last month’s tragic road accident that claimed the lives of three members of the club’s executive committee.

The Bosso Board of Directors and Executive Committee met on Thursday and, in accordance with Article 7.6 of the club constitution, resolved to co-opt three members to serve in the executive committee until elections scheduled for January 2027.

Morris Mpala has been appointed executive committee vice-chairperson, while Dr Joshua Dube takes over the finance portfolio and Sindani Khumalo has been co-opted as the executive committee member responsible for marketing.

The club also endorsed portfolio adjustments among the remaining members, with Kindman Ndlovu taking over as executive committee chairman and Morgen Dube assuming responsibility for technical development.
The changes follow the untimely deaths of chairman Col (Rtd) Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba and executive committee member responsible for finance, Nkani Khoza.

The tragic accident also claimed the life of club member and devoted Bosso supporter Mbalenhle “Mbali” Sibanda.
The deaths left a huge void at Highlanders at a time when the Bulawayo giants are celebrating their centenary year.
However, the latest leadership changes are aimed at ensuring the smooth continuation of the club’s operations, with Highlanders specifically highlighting finances, league programmes and its centenary projects.

The club called on all stakeholders to support the new arrangements as Bosso seeks to navigate a difficult period while keeping its affairs running.

The January 2027 elections will provide the next major opportunity for members to determine the club’s leadership beyond the interim arrangements.
