HIGHLANDERS are keeping their cards close to the chest as rumours heat up over a possible mid-season swoop for star striker Obriel Chirinda and midfield enforcer Nqobizitha Masuku.

Insiders reveal that Chirinda could make an emotional return to his hometown to don the famous black and white, having previously starred for Bulawayo Chiefs and Chicken Inn before his big-money move to Ngezi Platinum.

“The club wants firepower upfront and Chirinda fits the profile,” said a source close to the deal.

On the midfield front, talk is growing louder of Masuku’s potential comeback from Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, where he has been shining in the Caf Champions League.

But Bosso bosses are not letting anything slip.

“For now I cannot disclose names of players we are targeting as this may jeopardise our efforts,” said acting chief executive officer Kindman Ndlovu on Monday.

With Highlanders gunning for the championship in their historic 100th year in 2026, fans believe it’s time to bring back tried-and-tested warriors to finish the job.

Whether Chirinda and Masuku will walk back through the gates of Emagumeni remains to be seen. Highlanders are plotting something big.
