HIGHLANDERS have begun hunting for an assistant coach to replace Amini Soma-Phiri who resigned last Tuesday with the deadline for those interested in the post being Friday.

Bosso yesterday placed an advert in our sister publication Chronicle inviting those who qualify to submit applications. Those interested in the post must be holders of a Caf A coaching licence or better, should have coached at Premier League level, communicate in English and have an ability to work under tremendous pressure.

Highlanders executive secretary general, Emmett Ndlovu, to whom applications should be addressed, said further details on the duration of the contract will be given to whoever will be hired by the club.

“Those details will be disclosed to the person we engage, the deadline for submission is Friday, as soon as we have gone through the process, we want to engage an assistant coach as soon as possible,’’ said Ndlovu.

When Soma-Phiri quit the post last Tuesday, a day after head coach Erol Akbay had accused him of sabotaging him, former Highlanders left back Melusi “Mabaleka” Sibanda was brought to the first team. With Zifa insisting that PSL coaches and their assistant must be holders of Caf A, Bosso have been forced to look for a substantive replacement for Soma-Phiri since Sibanda does not possess that qualification.

At the moment, local coaches with Caf A are not employed are Nation Dube, Mebelo Njekwa, Hebert Maruwa, Kallisto Pasuwa, Prince Matore and Luke Masomere. Moses Chunga, Joey Antipas, both with Caf B qualifications are exempted from the Caf A requirement since they have won the championship as coaches before while Bongani Mafu, a holder of a Uefa B could also make a return to Bosso since he is frozen out by his Botswana club Mochudi Centre Chiefs. — @Mdawini_29
