PREMIERSHIP giants, Highlanders have not adjusted their gate charges for the heavyweight clash against CAPS United at Barbourfields on Sunday.
The cheapest ticket remains at US$3 for rest of the ground, US$5 for VIP and US$10 for VVIP as per the Highlanders poster yesterday.
Traditionally, Highlanders have applied for a review of the charges for their home matches against Dynamos and CAPS United with the Harare teams also doing the same when they host Bosso.
Interestingly, Highlanders hiked their charges for the previous home game against Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers, Scottland on March 30.
It cost US$5 for the rest of the ground, US$10 for VIP and US$20 for VVIP.
The game generated a record net profit of US$45 000 for Highlanders after 13 000 spectators paid their way into the stadium for the match that ended 1-1 and without any incident of violence.
An estimated US$70 000 was generated before various service providers, including Bulawayo City Council and police took about US$25 000.
But going into Sunday’s match, both teams are struggling for results and have managed just one victory each although Highlanders have a four-match unbeaten record after losing their opener away to MWOS.
On the other hand, CAPS United have slumped to third from bottom with just four points from the opening five matches.
The respective results are worrying for both camps, and this might have influenced the decision on gate charges as everything points to a smaller than usual crowd on Sunday and any attempts to hike the fees might be resisted by both sets of fans.
It will however, be a missed opportunity to make money for Highlanders and key stakeholders including the Premier Soccer League itself.
