Bosso still to appoint junior teams’ coaches

The delay is likely to see the team missing out on the inaugural Presidential Trophy which gets underway at White City Stadium in the city.

Highlanders did not renew contracts for their junior coaches whose one year marriage with the   club ended on 31 December last year.

The coaches are Siphatho Ncube the Under-18 coach, Smart Mathe the developmental coach,    Gift Lunga the Under-16 coach, Daniel Ngwenya the Under-14 coach and juniors manager Smart Moyo.

Club chairman Peter Dube confirmed that his executive was yet to identify and appoint junior coaches but said the process will be done by the end of next week. Dube had earlier promised that the appointment of the junior coaches was going to be concluded by end of this week. This was after the executive had re-appointed Bekithemba Ndlovu and Tembo Chuma as Kelvin Kaindu’s assistant coaches as well as the new welfare manager, Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo. Khumalo took over from Amin Soma-Phiri who is now in South Africa on attachment with Supersport United.

“We have not identified or appointed anyone at the moment but by the end of next week we should have finalised everything,” said Dube.

During the annual general meeting Dube told members that the appointment of coaches will be done above board and in the interest of the club.

While there are chances that most of the junior coaches will be retained, former national Under-14 coach Dumaza Dube could makea comeback to the club as head of the juniors      coaches.

Highlanders has a proud history of producing its own players from the junior ranks that have   gone on to make a mark both on the local and international scene. That success has partly been attributed to the consistence and stable juniors structures unlike over the last couple of years when junior coaches were changed almost on a yearly basis and in the process destabalising the technical and mental growth of the youngsters.
