CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) leaders Scottland will carry one of local football’s most intimidating records to Barbourfields on Sunday when they face Highlanders in a blockbuster Week 23 encounter.
Norman Mapeza’s men have gone nine consecutive league matches without conceding a goal, a remarkable defensive streak that has powered them to the top of the standings and firmly established them as favourites for the 2026 championship.
The Harare giants have not only mastered the art of keeping opponents at bay, but have also assembled one of the most experienced squads in the domestic game, which has gone nine matches without a loss.
Former Warriors captain Knowledge Musona, ex-national team star Khama Billiat, dependable defender Peter Muduhwa and his fellow defensive partner Kevin Moyo have brought experience,
leadership and quality to a Scottland side that has looked increasingly difficult to stop as the season has progressed.
With Mapeza at the helm, Scottland have blended defensive discipline with attacking efficiency, turning consistency into their biggest weapon in the race for league honours.
But if there is one club capable of ending Scottland’s extraordinary defensive run, Highlanders believe they can do it in front of their passionate supporters at Barbourfields Stadium.
Bosso will be chasing more than just three points.
Benjani Mwaruwari’s charges have the opportunity to become the first team in 10 league matches to breach Scottland’s defence, a feat no other club has managed since the Harare outfit embarked on its remarkable run of clean sheets.
While Highlanders have struggled for consistency, drawing a league-high 13 matches this season, they have often shown they can rise to the occasion against the country’s biggest teams, particularly at Emagumeni.
The fixture also comes on a day when Highlanders members are expected to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to deliberate on the club’s financial affairs, adding another layer of significance to what is already one of the biggest fixtures of the weekend.
For Scottland, victory would tighten their grip at the summit and move them another step closer to a dream league title.
For Highlanders, the challenge is equally compelling—to halt the march of the log leaders, hand Scottland their first defensive blemish in 10 matches and remind the country why Barbourfields remains one of Zimbabwean football’s most intimidating venues.
Can Bosso become the first team in 10 games to crack Scottland’s defence?
Answer: Only time will tell on Sunday – @FungaiMuderere.
