Bosso to honour players

It will be the first time for the Ndlela-led executive to honour their players since taking over the leadership of the club in 2009.
“We have finalised everything and I can confirm to you that our stars awards night will be on Wednesday at the club house. We want to say thank you to our players for staying with us against a background of difficult times,” said Ndlela.

The night might also see former skipper Gilbert Banda getting an award even though he is now officially on the books of flamboyant Zvishavane side, FC Platinum.
“If they deserve an accolade I see no reason why they should not be honoured because we are honouring our players for the 2011 season,” said Ndlela.
Banda and Lewis Matawu, who also had a decent season, were registered by the Rahman Gumbo-coached side and officially parted ways with Highlanders by even writing off about $7 000 which the club owed them.

Tomorrow, the club will have among other prizes, an award for the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Most Disciplined Player, Most Consistent Player, Most Improved Player and the Most Promising Player.
For the Player of the Year, it will be a toss between steely defensive rock Innocent Mapuranga,  Rahman Kutsanzira, Graham Ncube, who has already declared that he is staying put at Bosso, and Under-23 goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda. Ncube has already bagged the Golden Boot award after firing past goalkeepers eight times this season.

Mapuranga, Banda, Sibanda and Eric Mudzingwa are also favourites for the Players Player of the Year, an award given to a player who would have been chosen by his colleagues.
The young goalkeeper is a clear-cut favourite for the Most Disciplined Player in the Bosso squad.
Highlanders will become the third team to award their players after FC Platinum and Dynamos did so last week.

The Zvishavane outfit gave their players a minimum of $1 500 with their Player of the Year, Tafadzwa Dube, receiving $6 000 while Menard Mupera, who was chosen by his teammates for the Players’ Player of the Year, got $4 000.

Harare giants Dynamos also rewarded their players handsomely with Zimbabwe Footballer  of the Year Washington Arubi getting $5 000 for the Player of the Year award to complete a memorable year for goalkeepers.
