HIGHLANDERS have named sharp-suited football administrator Denzel Mnkandla as their new chief executive officer, ending months of speculation and boardroom whispers.
Club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe confirmed the appointment on Tuesday evening, revealing that the FC Platinum official had edged out two other contenders, Nomvelo Mlotshwa and Nkululeko Ndlovu.
“We are happy to announce that we have settled for Denzel Mnkandla for the chief executive’s post,” said Mhlophe.
Mnkandla, a National University of Science and Technology graduate, takes over from Kindman Ndlovu, who was holding fort after the sudden departure of Brian Moyo four months ago.
The new boss is expected to hit the ground running when he officially starts work on August 1.
Efforts to get a comment from Mnkandla were unsuccessful yesterday, but insiders say the Highlanders camp is buzzing with hope that his appointment signals a fresh era for the struggling giants.
