HIGHLANDERS are yet to conclude negotiations with youth and women’s football coaches with Melusi ‘Mabaleka’ Sibanda the only one with a contract in the developmental ranks.
The former Bosso midfielder is in charge of Bosso 90 that plays in the Zifa Southern Region Division One league.
Acting Highlanders chief executive officer and spokesperson Ronald Moyo said although they are yet to conclude talks with targeted coaches, the club was confident that by the time junior and women’s football is given the green light to resume, all departments would be filled.
“It’s work in progress. We know for sure that by the time resumption of youth and women’s football is announced, all our pieces will be in place,” said Moyo.
He declined to reveal coaches they are in talks with, but sources said former players Sizabantu Khoza, Gift Lunga Jnr, Dan Ngwenya and
Dazy Kapenya were on the radar.
Khoza is being earmarked for the Under-18 team, Lunga Jnr the Under-16s, Ngwenya the Under-14s, while Kapenya could be assistant to Sibanda in the developmental side.
Abraham Mbaiwa was initially targeted as Sibanda’s assistant before he joined ambitious Bulawayo Chiefs.
Former Mighty Warriors captains Nomusa ‘Boyz’ Moyo and Nobuhle Majika are the favourites to take charge of Highlanders Royals.
Majika is assistant coach to Evans Netha at Amakhosikazi, a Bulawayo Chiefs women’s project.
