His name is Ladan Bosso.
He is the coach of the Nigerian Flying Eagles team at the CAF Under-20 Championships in Egypt.
His team took on Uganda in a quarter-final tie last night.
Nigeria finished second in Group A behind Senegal.
“We all know that Nigeria has qualified to the quarterfinal stage and knowing fully that we have an objective of coming out of this place and the least task ahead of us is to pick one of the slots to the FIFA U-20 World Cup,” said Bosso ahead of last night’s match.
“We’re almost there but it is not yet sealed.
“We believe and hope that at the end of the regulation time we should be celebrating.
“The knockout stage if you don’t squeeze through it’s as if you didn’t qualify so we will do all we can do to make sure we go through to the World Cup.”
It has been a week in which individuals, or clubs, which have some similarities with Bosso, have been in the limelight.
On Sunday, Newcastle United, who have an identity of black-and-white colours like the Bosso strip, featured in the final of the English League Cup.
The Magpies lost 0-2 to Manchester United at Wembley.
However, despite the defeat, Newcastle were roundly praised for the way they have fought their way to once again compete against the top clubs in England.
The Magpies/Bosso link also include the fact that their hometowns, Newcastle and Bulawayo, are serviced by a daily newspaper with a similar name (Chronicle).
They also boast of a passionate support base.
The Highlanders fans will be hoping that their club, which hasn’t won the league championship since 2006, can also enjoy the same revival being seen at Newcastle.
The Magpies revival is linked to the kiss of life they received from their new Saudi owners.
Bosso also received a kiss of life from their principal sponsors Sakunda Holdings.
