HIGHLANDERS thanked their benefactor Wicknell Chivayo after the club’s transfer ban was lifted by FIFA yesterday, which enables them to register new players for their campaign this season.
The ban had crippled Bosso who have started the new season with a win and a loss in their first two games.
In a statement, the club said:
“Finally, the wait is over! We are delighted to announce that the FIFA ban has been lifted, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated FIFA team as everything has been resolved.
“Once again, a special thank you to Sir Wicknell Chivayo for facilitating the payment.
“With this hurdle cleared, we can now register our new signings. They could be part of our squad for the upcoming match against Green Fuel.”
A FIFA transfer ban was imposed on the club after they failed to settle the US$27 000 they owed former coaches Baltemar Brito and Antonio Joao Torres.
However, Chivayo intervened and settled the debt in full.
Bosso had been working with 18 players.
Coach Kelvin Kaindu said they had already done the registration of their targets and were only waiting for FIFA’s clearance.
The Bosso technical team were even forced to field players who are not fully fit.
They include Brighton “MaNinja” Ncube, who scored a hat-trick on Sunday.
The players who will now complete their move to Bosso are Marlvern Hativagoni, Never Rauzhi, Tendai Muvuti, Hubert Ncube, Panashe Mushonga and Mbonisi Ncube, who has played for BDF XI in Botswana. W
This week Bosso demonstrated a strong commitment to their players’ welfare by promptly rewarding them for their emphatic 4-0 victory over Kwekwe United.
The club ensured both players and the technical staff were paid their well-deserved winning bonuses and allowances on Monday, a move which is set to boost morale within the Bosso camp.
They take on Greenfuel on Saturday.
This timely payment is particularly significant as it follows a challenging pre-season period that was punctuated with delays in salary payments, leading to players missing some days of training as frustrations grew.
With the team’s financial and operational challenges gradually being addressed, Highlanders’ future looks promising as they focus on building momentum and securing more wins.
