Botswana Ambassador to Zimbabwe Kenny Kapinga has donated clothes and food to a Chiredzi woman, Lizzy Moyana and her newborn quadruplets.
Ambassador Kapinga said they were moved after receiving news that a woman had given birth to quadruplets and was pleading for help.
He donated blankets, diapers, bottled milk, toiletries, washing detergents and baby clothes worth $700 and pledged to continue assisting her.
The ambassador said they would be visiting the family again later this month.
“I would like to give my cordial appreciation to the hospital authority for granting us permission to make this donation. We read the story about quadruplets in the papers and we realised that it was noble to extend our helping hand towards the woman in supporting the children,” said Ambassador Kapinga.
Ambassador Kapinga said his embassy was working towards further strengthening the bond between Botswana and Zimbabwe through engaging in grassroots activities.
The diplomat added that his embassy had intentions to run community service initiatives in which they would assist in kick-starting community projects.
He pledged to continue supporting Moyana in the upkeep of her children.
“I know that our donation will not last long but we believe it will make a difference in the mother’s life. Therefore on behalf of my country and staff at the Botswana Embassy I present this donation to her. I want to promise that we will continue to monitor her social welfare. We are going back but with plans to visit her at her home maybe in two or three weeks’ time and we believe we will bring more donations and I am sure God will help us to continue helping her,” he said.
Receiving the donation, Moyana expressed great appreciation to the Botswana ambassador for remembering her during such a tough time.
“I thank you ambassador for remembering my children, may God bless you and replace from where you removed,” she said.
Moyana however said her husband is yet to come and see the babies, claiming his bosses in South Africa denied him permission to travel and he would be back in December.
