Bowling is alive: Robertson

THE sport of bowling is alive.
That’s what you hear when you talk to bowlers.
Alexandra Sports Club singles champion Clive Robertson feels the sport is growing.
“Bowling is growing. In the past it was there but now it is being understood clearly by new players.

“With the help of The Herald newspaper giving us coverage whenever we have a competition, we now have a lot of young players in our club and it is becoming more popular.

“Some of our players are 15-year-olds and they are still going to school but at the same time find time to practice which is very good. We are all happy with that. I have played good bowls since 2007 and I enjoy seeing new players especially young players. Among the young players we have Aaron Chilundo who his 17,” said Robertson.

He said the country has always done well on the international scene.
“I have always enjoyed bowling and taking part in big competitions can be very competitive but it is a good experience. We did well in the 2012 World Champions and we enjoyed the exposure as it also helps in keeping us keep focus on the game.

“The more you take part in different competitions the advantage you have in that you get used to the different greens.”
