DELTA Force Boxing Promotions have had their operating licence cancelled with immediate effect after failing to comply with the regulations set by the Zimbabwe Boxing Control Board. Paul Nenjerama, the ZBCB chairman, wrote to Delta Force Promotions manager Clyde Musonda last week and advised him that their stable had been indefinitely suspended from managing boxers and promoting fights. Delta Force failed to submit match sanctions fees, medicals and a profit and loss report of their tournament staged in November last year despite several appeals from the boxing board.
“Following our reminder and your subsequent failure to fulfil the February 25, 2014, deadline to pay what you owe the board in terms of sanction fees totalling US$317.00, I do hereby advise you that a decision has been arrived at that your licence be suspended.
“This is with immediate effect,” wrote Nenjarama.
Nenjarama said the suspension will remain in place until Delta Force regularise their position with the board and warned any official of the stable from performing any boxing related functions. The boxing board also advised companies against dealing with suspended stable until Delta Force have been cleared.
In a bid to guard against unscrupulous promoters, the boxing control board said any potential sponsors should ask for a clearance from the board. Delta Force currently hold the rights for the World Boxing Union bantamweight belt that is vacant and had been planning to rope in South Africa-based pugilist Tapiwa Tembo as one of the contenders.
