The event will be used for the National Championships preparations to be staged in Hwange next month.
Kwangwari said they are hoping to field fighters in all the categories in Kwekwe.
“We have about eight boxers for all the categories. Since the tournament was postponed we have been training. We are taking this tournament in Kwekwe as a platform to sharpen our fighters’ skills ahead of the national championships to be held in October in Hwange. Some of the fighters are not here but the eight we have, have been in the team for quite some time and they will be part of the team that is going to compete in the national championships. We want them to defend our title. We have been working on the techniques and endurance,” said Kwangwari.
Some of the fighters expected to battle it out in the tournament are Ronald Chaikosa in the light heavyweight, Last Chigare in the welterweight and Beaven Nyamhondera will battle for honours in the middleweight category.
Zaba technical director, Petros Masiyambumbi said they have moved the event again to give the hosts enough time to prepare so they do not face the same problems that rocked the initial tournament. There was a clash of events at the same venue in Kwekwe forcing the pugilists to go back to their bases without having traded leather.
“The arrangements to postpone the tournament again are meant to ensure that we don’t face the same problems we had last time. The teams did not rest, they have been preparing for the competition. We have also organised another tournament in Bindura as a follow-up event to the one that will be held in Kwekwe,” said Masiyambumbi.

“We know people are facing challenges in terms of transportation and we want to cut down the costs,” The national championships are pencilled for Hwange on October 27.
