“There’s a big risk in as far as our rings are concerned. The boards no longer fit the standards and they continuously break.
“It is risky for our boxers to continue using the rings as they may eventually get injured.
“The rings are no longer suitable and we are appealing to the responsible authorities to help us.
“They should seek sponsorship to enhance the sport.
“We pay to use the rings but they are not that up to standard.”
The coach, who assisted former great boxers such as the late Proud “Kilimanjaro” Chinembiri, Danger Masvingo, Emanuel Nyika and Tensions Chioni, among others, believes the sport should be taken serious.
“We are not having tournaments as international boxers cannot take us seriously with our facilities.
“We always suffer defeats when we go to international fights because we lack practice due to the facilities
“The issue of us paying is also of concern as we do not have the money as no tournaments are sponsored here.
“Local boards, both amateur and professional, have tried to make the sport stand firm.
