A 12-year-old boy was electrocuted at the just-ended Zimbabwe Agricultural Show on Saturday.

He was dead upon admission at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

The boy had come into contact with the metal body of an electrical paratrooper swing while playing at the Lunar park.

National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident saying investigations were still going on.

“The ZRP reports a sad incident in which a 12-year-old boy was electrocuted after he touched the metal body of an electric swing known as paratrooper on September 3 at Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Luna Park, Harare.

“The victim died upon arrival at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. Investigations are in progress,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.

Social media was awash with most reactions suggesting that the swing attendant was negligent.

However, some urged parents to have a full view of their children during their time at the Exhibition Park.
