NEW: Boy (13) drowns in pool

A SWIMMING expedition for a 13-year-old boy ended tragically after he drowned in a pool in Mutasa.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident that happened in Premier South, Old Mutare.

The deceased, Tadiwanashe Innocent Matamba, who was in the company of other juveniles were herding cattle when he decided to swim in Mutare River.

 

He drowned and efforts by his friends to rescue him proved fruitless.

No foul play is suspected.

Tadiwanashe’s friends alerted his father, Gibson Matambo who teamed up with others to retrieve the body.

The incident happened hardly a week after a 10-year-old boy, Freedom Marufu drowned in similar fashion in Tamburika Village in Chief Musikavanhu’s area.
