Boy dies after being kicked in the genitals

POLICE in Gokwe have exhumed the body of a nine-year-old boy for a post-mortem after it emerged during graveside eulogies that the boy died after his teacher kicked him in the genitals. The boy is said to have died on Friday last week at Gokwe District Hospital. His private parts were swollen.
Police spokesperson for Midlands province, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, which occurred in Gwada Village, under Chief Chireya, Gokwe North.

Insp Mahoko said the boy, Ronaldo Shoronga’s body was exhumed on Saturday after some speakers alleged that the boy succumbed to injuries sustained after he was kicked by his female teacher at Sawi primary school.  He said the teacher was accusing the boy who was in the company of his twin brother, of having driven his herd of cattle through the school yard resulting in one of the beasts pulling off a jacket, which was on a washing line.

“The allegations are that on 1 June 2013, the boy, Ronaldo Shoronga was driving cattle together with his twin brother, Ronadhino on their way to Sengwa River.

The two boys who were in the company of another eight-year-old friend, Naison Madhora then passed through Sawi Primary School yard when one of their beasts hooked a jacket which was on the washing line,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said the owner of the jacket, Josephine Mahayedwa, a teacher at the school then followed the three boys after she realised that her jacket had been hooked by one of the beasts.

“When she caught up with the three boys, she started beating them with a switch before she kicked Ronaldo on the private parts.
The three boys then proceeded home but Ronaldo started complaining of painful private parts,” said Insp Mahoko. He said Ronaldo continued complaining of the pain in his private parts until 17 June when he was taken to  Gokwe District Hospital.

“The boy then died while admitted to the hospital  the following day. He was buried on Saturday at Mangisi village under Chief Chireya. The matter came to light during the burial when speakers including the now deceased’s mother, Ms Florence Gwada, indicated that the boy had been complaining of pain in his private parts after he was allegedly kicked by Mahayedwa,” he said.

Insp Makoho said police attended the scene leading to the exhumation of the body and arrest of Mahayedwa. “The boy’s body has been taken for a post-mortem and investigations are still in progress,” he said.
