The lovers were walking along a footpath between 5pm and 6pm when they were confronted by the two assailants.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau said: “The two assailants were coming from the opposite direction and one of them grabbed the woman while the other grabbed her fiancé.”
He said the woman was dragged into a nearby bush while her fiancé was forced marched to the opposite direction.
“The other suspect raped the woman while the other one was busy sodomising her fiancé,” Insp Sabau said.
After sodomising the man, the assailant went on to rape the woman before ordering the lovers to leave the scene.
A report was made to the police.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old housemaid was raped on several occasions by her employer aged 40 in Highlands.
The employer, who has since been arrested, is alleged to have started raping the girl in September this year while his wife was in South Africa.
“The two were left together at the house and on September 6, the accused entered the bedroom in which the complainant was sleeping and raped her once,” Insp Sabau said.
He said he then continuously raped the girl. Police arrested the suspect on Thursday acting on a tip off.
Another 25-year-old housemaid was allegedly raped by her employer’s son in Mount Pleasant after turning down his proposal.
It is alleged that the maid was left alone at the house while her employer went to South Africa. The son (28) arrived home from Namibia and proposed to the maid but was turned down. Insp Sabau
said the man later entered the bedroom where the victim was sleeping and raped her once.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of the suspect.
A 29-year-old Harare man was arrested on Thursday on allegations of raping his 13-year-old relative in Waterfalls after tying her with a cloth.
Insp Sabau said such cases were worrisome and urged those who could have fallen victim to report to the police so that the perpetrators will be brought to book.
This comes amid revelations that rape and sodomy cases have increased in the city and surrounding areas. Police in Harare yesterday expressed concern over an increase in such cases which are being committed especially on the minors and housemaids. Some of the perpetrators are targeting people walking alone in secluded places.
Speaking at a passout parade on Thursday, Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri said it was disappointing to note that cases of rape on juveniles shot up by 16 percent this year.
