‘Always at the top, never at the bottom’

including readers for contributing to the bountiful year.
At a time like this, the Lord remembered us and reassured us that He will never leave us alone. We thank the Lord our God, in the name of Jesus Christ for graciously blessing us this year.
We also thank the Lord that in a competitive market with equally good brands The Herald newspaper has for the second year running been awarded the prestigious Superbrand of the Year Award, which makes it a brand that performed “above and beyond other brands”. It is Lord, for your name’s sake, for “nothing is impossible with you God”. (Luke 1:37)
We glorify His name because He is the truth, and the truth sets us free. He allowed others to sample the brand we called The Herald, and at the end of the exercise, He endorsed the position: The Herald is the head, and not the tail; always on top, never at the bottom. (Deutronomy 28:1-14).
We thank the Lord for putting in place men and women who fear Him, who operate under His guidance; men and women full of wisdom, knowledge and understanding to lead and direct the affairs of Zimpapers’ group of newspapers that inform, educate and entertain.
Even under difficult situations, you have given them wise counsel to direct the affairs of the organisation.
We also thank you Lord, because The Herald cannot be a Superbrand in a vacuum. There is a workforce in the publication chain starting from the board right to the bottom that is focused and works with a team spirit.
Then there are our important partners: the readers and advertisers who are the oil to the engine in the production chain.
We thank the Lord that they have continued to support The Herald’s desire to bring the best news to the people. In September, we gave glory and honour to the Almighty for making The Herald tops in the readership market.
According to the Zimbabwe All Media Products and Services Survey (ZAMPS), during the second quarter of the year, an estimated 1,8 million adults read The Herald – 34 percent of the entire adult population in Zimbabwe’s urban centres, and 23 percent of the entire rural adult population. Lord we thank you that we are impacting the nation and should strive to do so in a positive manner.
Lord, we thank you because The Herald online edition is also one of the best. In a June 2011 ranking done by Opera Software, herald.co.zw was among the top ten websites in Zimbabwe, the only Zimbabwean website.
It was number 8 and competed with facebook.com, google.com, wikipedia.com, youtube.com, yahoo.com, bbc.co.uk, my.opera.com, twitter.com and cnnmobile.com. Opera Software is a Norwegian software company, known for its Opera family of website browsers and has over 220 million users worldwide.
Lord, you are all-knowing. You are opening up more opportunities for Zimpapers, and with gatekeepers and referees like these we know that the excellence that the leadership endeavors will be achieved, for your name’s sake.
Workers and the nation will reap the benefits of the responsibility you placed on the media, for your word says, “The worker is worth his keep.” (Matthew 10:10)
As we look to the future, we do so with the conviction that it is a bright future, for you Oh Lord directs our steps. (Proverbs 20:24) We affirm that Zimbabwe will be delivered, restored and put its hope and trust in you Lord. We proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ’s supremacy in all this: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:15-17)
So, all we can say is: “Thank you Lord”. Thank you for giving us the power of utterance.
Thank you Lord for giving us relevance, and thank you Lord that we treat these contestations not as wars, but tools for unity of purpose, for therein, you will continue to bless us.
