BPPPA challenge matches set for Friday

BULAWAYO Professional Pool Players Association (BPPA) are on Friday set to converge at Palace Gardens for challenge matches that will start at 5pm. Aï¿½

Osbornewell Dziko, a representative of the Dziko family that has been running Palace Gardens for the past couple of years said they saw it fit to provide a venue for games as a way of waving goodbye to their clients.

aï¿½?We have been running Palace Gardens as a family for some time. As we are set to soon relocate, we saw it fit to provide the venue for the games and wave goodbye to our clients in style. Itaï¿½ï¿½s a way of giving back to the community and we hope to witness some exciting challenge matches,aï¿½? said Dziko.

The challenge games will be a teaser to the Bulawayo Pool Association cup games that will start on Saturday with 48 teams that are set to do battle at 12 different venues dotted in and around the City of Kings and Queens.

aï¿½?The cup competition will run for the entire month of July as this has been done to give owing teams time to pay up their outstanding subscriptions. The draw of the contest was held last Saturday at Raylton Recreation Club,aï¿½? said BPA publicity secretary Farai Nyandoro.

Meanwhile, five BPA administrators successfully completed a two-day sports administration course that was hostedAï¿½ by the Sports and Recreation CommissionAï¿½ (SRC) in conjunction with Hillside Teachersaï¿½ï¿½ College.

Those who took part in the course are BPA vice-chairman Donald Wadawu, secretary general Raphael Mukucha, Nyandoro,Aï¿½ Kudakwashe Shoko and OsbornewellAï¿½ Dziko of Exchange Pool Club.

The course covered reportedly covered topics on communication, human resources, risk management marketing and doping among other things.
