HIGHLANDERS Football Club have appointed seasoned South African tactician Thabo Senong as their new head coach, with former Bosso player Mkhokheli Dube returning to the club as assistant coach.
The Bulawayo giants confirmed the appointments in a press release issued on Sunday evening signalling a fresh chapter for the club as it prepares for the new season.
Welcoming the new technical leadership, Bosso said: “Welcome to iTeam yezwe lonke Thabo Senong.”
Senong brings vast experience from elite football structures on the continent, having worked with the South African senior national team and the Under-20 side, as well as the Lesotho senior men’s national team. He also boasts a strong record at youth level, highlighted by leading South Africa to the COSAFA Under-20 Cup title in 2013.
Chronicle has previously reported that Senong is widely respected for his emphasis on youth development, tactical discipline and team building — qualities that align with Highlanders’ traditional philosophy of grooming talent while maintaining a competitive edge.
The club said his pedigree and experience make him a valuable addition to the Bosso technical setup at a time when the team is seeking consistency and a return to challenging for honours.
Meanwhile, Dube’s return has been welcomed as a significant boost to the dressing room. A former Highlanders player, he is regarded as a respected member of the Bosso family whose understanding of the club’s culture, values and traditions will play a key role in supporting the technical team and motivating players.
Highlanders said further additions to the technical team and playing staff will be announced in due course.
With the Senong-Dube partnership now in place, expectations are rising at Emagumeni as Bosso look to chart a new course in their quest to reclaim past glory.
